10-8-21   THOUGHTS

Thoughts of caution this morning.  An elder at Rescue many years ago had a saying... “That’s a good reason, try not to let it turn into an excuse ! ” As human beings, we go through all kinds of gyrations to make our lives as we want them to be.  An excuse fits when I DON’T WANT to do what I probably OUGHT TO DO.  The story below is Jesus teaching about OUR MISSING THE IMPORTANT...  HIM AND THE KINGDOM!  SEEKING FIRST AND SEARCHING DILIGENTLY ARE FOR US!  We cannot afford to fill our lives with EXCUSES!   “O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!”   Ps 34:8    Not tasting in Luke 14:24 below, is not an option dear Christian.

Luke 14:15-24    When one of those who were reclining at the table with Him heard this, he said to Him, "Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!" 16  But He said to him, "A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; 17  and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come; for everything is ready now.’ 18
"But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me excused.’ 19  "Another one said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’ 20  "Another one said, ‘I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’ 21  "And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ 22  "And the slave said, ‘Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ 23  "And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. 24  ‘For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner.’"

Hag 1:9    "[You] look for much, but behold, [it comes] to little; when you bring [it] home, I blow it [away.] Why?" declares the LORD of hosts, "Because of My house which [lies] desolate, while each of you runs to his own house.
John 1:11    He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
Matt 6:33   "But
seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

A LIFE OF EXCUSES  is no life at all!  We must not MISS LIFE!

My Prayer:
Help us O God to live real lives from righteous motives.  May our spiritual being always overcome our physical being.  Remove from us any desire to excuse ourselves from serving you.  Teach us to be good children and sheep that  follow as we hear your voice. May we live in the joy of your salvation.   May we abide in your presence continually O Lord.
In the name of Jesus we pray    Amen
